Called Christians

Apr 30, 2023    Cary Jester

In our sermon this week Cary guides us through Acts 11:19-30. The story describes the beginnings of the church in Antioch. Barnabas sees the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted the Christians to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose (Acts 11:22). In an act of great generosity the church in Antioch sends relief to the brothers and sisters living in Judea. It shows maturity when the believer is able to give and give cheerfully. From the text, Cary encourages us to thank and so our appreciation for the Barnabas in our lives. He also invites us to be a Barnabas to others in our lives. We are called to grow in maturity and in our giving. Growing as a Christian is not about reaching within and finding what it takes, true change comes from believing and resting in Jesus. We pray people see the joy that we have in Jesus and that it draws others towards Him.
