The Heart of Jesus

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - (Matthew 11:28-30)

The Teaching of Jesus

"And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” - (Mark 12:30-31)

The Community of Jesus

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." - John 1:12
"So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." - Romans 12:5
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer." - Acts 2:42

The Mission of Jesus

"For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost." - Luke 19:10
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20

Guided Prayers

If you'd like to explore more of what it means to follow Jesus consider the prayers below as guides to help

Prayer for Those Searching for Truth

Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen.

Prayer of Belief

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through you, I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared to hope. Thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior. Amen.
