Clean and Forgiven

Apr 16, 2023    Peter Jovanovich

As we continue in our study through the book of Acts, this week we come to Acts 10:1-48. Peter walks us through the story of Peter and Cornelius. Peter receives a vision and understandings that God has shown him that he should not call any person common or unclean. He shares the good news with the Gentiles in Cornelius' house and they receive the Holy Spirit just as the Jews have. All the prophets and the Old Testament texts bear witness that everyone who believes in Jesus receives forgiveness of sins through his name (Acts 10:43).

From the text we see that the gospel is good news for all people. God shows no partiality. Our salvation is a gift from God. It's not something we can earn. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
