Dead Faith Versus Living Faith
Jan 21, 2024 • Daniel Englehart
This week as we continue in our study through the book of James, we consider James 2:14-26. James contrasts dead faith with living faith. Saving faith is demonstrated through love and good works. James argues that someone who claims to have faith but does not have works has a useless faith. Faith without works is a dead faith. Drawing from the Old Testament stories of Abraham and Rahab, James shows us that faith is to be active with works. What we believe is beheld in our behavior. What we truly affirm is observed in our obedience. What we really depend upon is displayed in our deeds.
May God give us grace to have a faith that is whole and may we grow in increasing trust and obedience to Jesus.
