The Mercy of God

Feb 1, 2026    Cary Jester

We continue in our study through the book of Hosea this morning as we consider Hosea 2:14-23. According to His great mercy God woos and speaks tenderly to restore his people. The place where God brought cursing is reversed to a place of hope. According to His great mercy, God redeems His people. He pays the bride price in everything we lack. Righteousness and justice, steadfast love and mercy. According to His great mercy, the creation will be renewed and in response to God’s mercy we will say, “You are my God.”

Jesus is God’s ultimate display to His people of His love for them. Jesus is God himself, come down to speak tenderly to His people. Jesus is the true vine who gives life to all who are in Him. On the cross, the greatest Valley of Achor has become a door of hope. A place of condemnation, cursing, and judgment, has become our only hope for righteousness, life, and restoration. Jesus, the true and loving husband, gave up His life for His bride. He redeemed us, and now we wait for Him to return and make all things new. We live now as the beloved of God. God has had mercy on us in Christ. He has called us His people. May God give us grace to live worthy of this calling, to live lives worthy of the gospel, and to say in our words, actions, and affections, He is our God.
