The Compassion of God
This morning we continue in our study through Hosea as we consider Hosea 11-12:1. The passage shows the depth of God’s grace and His tender compassion that doesn’t give up on those bent against him. In the end, the last word is not destruction, but restoration. God roars like a Lion not to destroy those bent against him, but to gather them back to their home. Our text could be grouped into the following three main headers:
1) The call and love of the Father
2) The consistent refusal and rebellion of His people
3) The tender compassion of God who doesn’t give up on His people
The compassion of God is shown in God refusing to give up on those who are set against him. Ultimately in Jesus, we see the love of God in giving up his own son for his enemies. May God give us grace to follow Jesus, rejoice in awe and wonder of His love, and remain in Him until he roars like a Lion and makes all things new.
