The LORD Will Repay

As we continue in our study of the story of Samuel, today we look at 2 Samuel 16-17.

In the story we see the Lord working and preparing the defeat of Absalom. We're told in 2 Samuel 17:14, "For the Lord had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom."

The Lord doesn’t forsake or leave his people. He has promised to defeat the enemies of his people. Like David, we can rest and depend upon the grace of God that he will repay us with good in the midst of evil and suffering. We can follow in the example of Jesus who entrusted himself in the one who judges justly. We were straying like sheep, but have returned to the Shepherd of our souls.
